Superheroes aren’t just in comic books

If you could be a superhero, would you? In honor of our superhero theme for Summer Reading Club, here’s a list of young adult books that feature superheroes. Click on the title to be taken to the library website to put them on hold.


Even though it’s never checked in, and you’ll pretty much have to place a request to get it, I have to start with Brandon Sanderson’s Steelheart and its sequel Firefight. What happens when the people who get superpowers all turn evil and take over the world? Is there any possible way for a normal kid to save his city and avenge his father’s death at the hands of Steelheart, the Epic ruling what used to be Chicago? David has been doing his research, and he knows if he has any hope of taking down Steelheart, he has to join the Reckoners, a vigilante group who have been successful in taking down lesser Epics. The problem is, every Epic has only one weakness, and it’s usually hard to figure out, but David has an important clue: he’s seen Steelheart bleed.
